Life is Fun
Stuff I've done/made just for the fun of it
π€ Guest Lecture at Stanford
Guest lecture for Stanford Global Entrepreneurial Marketing class for graduate students. Had a blast talking about #startupmarketing and how to scale a social app company. Had so much fun taking the class, that I came back to guest lecture it after I graduated!
π Tribe: Women's Wellness Social Club
Teamed up with my good friend Sarah Gray to start a women's wellness social club in SF! We host monthly social events that range from entrepreneurial speaker series to workout classes to wellness parties. We've been lucky to partner with & be sponsored by some awesome local companies - Credo Beauty, CocoKind, Modern Citizen, Parsley Health, Bare Bowls, Ritual Hot Yoga, Clearly Kombucha, Juice Beauty, Gr8nola, Nike, EO Products, TCHO Chocolate and more!
π 10 Day Silent Vipassana
Kicked off Jan 2018 with a 10 day silent meditation retreat in the woods in Northern California. It's been on my bucket list ever since my first MBSR course in 2015 at the Stanford Med School! It was one of the most intense and unique life experiences I've ever had. Here's what I was thinking going into the experience. Oh, P.S. it happened to land over my birthday!
ππ½ Rooftop Meditation
Host guided rooftop meditation sessions in San Francisco. Partnered with local restaurants to provide brunch / fun afterparty!
P.S. Interested in joining the next one? Email me!
πΎ Zero to Brunch
Weβve all experienced it. An awesome inspiring coffee conversation that leaves us pumped up the rest of the day. That βhigh on lifeβ feeling after meeting a person who is ON OUR LEVEL - in energy, motivation, & drive. The spike in energy from talking to a rockstar whoβs following her dreams with reckless abandon.
I wanted to create more of these experiences. Plain & simple. So I decided to start a series of inspirational brunches, bringing amazing people together on Sunday mornings in San Francisco. (Co-host: Juliette Surette)
P.S. Interested in joining the next one? Email me!
π€ Guest Lecture at Stanford
Gave a guest lecture to Stanford Graduate Engineering students on personal development, mindfulness, and personal transformation.
β¨ Meditation Leader
Started leading (unofficial) guided meditation classes at my gym. (Management told me they didn't need a meditation class because they had enough yoga classes, so I decided to start my own. π)
Sounds fun? Join us at the Bay Club SF on Wednesdays @ 8:00PM!
ππ½ Tara Lakshana Celebration Truffles
Started vegan truffle company during grad school. Sold artisan handmade truffles throughout Bay Area. Had pop up shops at Equinox, lululemon, SoulCycle, etc. & catered parties in the area.
π Girls on The Run Coach
Volunteered to coach 3rd - 5th grade girls on body image and self love through the lens of training for a 5K. It was AWESOME!
Β
π UX Design & Prototyping
My brother & I wanted a way to keep in touch with our friends so we built OMG to seamlessly share those "OMG" moments throughout the day. Tara: user research, ux prototyping. Nikil: concept, development.
ππ½ Life Coaching Workshop
Developed, organized, and led a life coaching workshop for Stanford graduate students. Partnered with iThrive (healthy students network at Stanford)
Interested in mindset/goal setting/visualization? Check out the booklet I made here.
π€ Script for Saving Tagged FB Photos
So many memories captured in other people's photos. Solution: wrote a python script to take the tagged photos and save them to my hard drive.
βπ½ Lululemon Pop-up Shop @ Facebook HQ
Designed & ran a pop-up shop for lululemon athletica at the Facebook HQ. It was later recognized as being the best / most popular pop up Facebook has ever had onsite.
Brought in an incredible local yoga teacher and organized a "Big Ass Yoga Class" on the Facebook athletic field for employees.
Team: Kelsey Tilley, Frankie Brady, Brian Truong, David Tilley, Heather Horst.
π Gangnam Style Java Program
Wrote a computer program to attach my professor's (Mehran Sahami) and my two TA's heads to Psy's body and make them dance to Gangnam Style. Bonus - you could add whatever background you wanted and could make them dance together.
Fortunately, my professor liked it and I actually won "Most Entertaining" in the competition. (1 of 3 awards in the 600+ person class)
πͺπ½ Nike Women's Half Marathon, SF
Me and every other female 18-40 in the Bay Area. :) But still, it was so fun and an INCREDIBLE event. Can't help but be super inspired by the way it brought together so many wonderful companies and people. I want to create experiences like this for the companies I work for.
π Grilled Cheese Food Truck
Decked out an old F150 pickup with christmas lights & a boombox, got a charcoal grill, learned how to make the perfect grilled cheese (hint: potato bread), and sold late night grilled cheese to Stanford students.
π Faces of Harbaugh
www.facesofharbaugh.com - Harbaugh had it coming.
Someone had to do it. Leave it to my brother Nikil and I to tag team this one and make the website one lazy Sunday. Harbaugh's faces + our captions = too much entertainment.
βοΈ ExchangeU
Built database and designed portal to help students with the Study Abroad process during my Summer 2011. Goal was to be an end to end social network and solution for students - from selecting a location to hosting study abroad alumni networks. Was a finalist for the Wharton Business Plan competition.
πΈ #SELFIE Shirt
Had a revelation on a plane while snapchatting. Made + sold these in the Bay Area. Let me know if you want one!
π Throwing Surprise Birthday Parties for My Friends
Complete with handmade beer pong tables, healthy black bean brownie cakes, matching t-shirts, and lots of ridiculous necessities (i.e. giant blow up cake). Past examples: piΓ±atas, giant trampolines, party buses, One of my all time favorite ways to have fun - celebrating my favorite people.
π Protein Powder for Women-On-The-Go
Experimented with creating protein powder packets for busy women to mix in with their morning coffee. Worked with different types of protein + flavors.
π· FlingShots
Created a website for Penn students to upload photos & tag them during our campus wide Spring celebration - Spring Fling. Goal was to get real time images of what was going on and where people were hanging out on campus. (think of it as an early version of a Snapchat campus story)
Honestly, this is just a subset; everything in life is fun!
Other fun stuff: Projects I've done, learn more about me, or check out my approach to life. Can't decide? You don't have to!
